4 Weeks In.........

I know we are a little biased, but we are just thrilled to have Maggie here.  Brent walks around telling her how beautiful she is and I just can't stop holding her.  We are so thankful she is so healthy (she's already gained almost 2 pounds and has grown over an inch).  Brent is convinced that she is learning how to smile...I don't think it is a conscious movement yet, but who knows.  Maybe she just loves her dad so much that she only smiles at him (this is his theory).
As far as our "new life," Brent and I just thought we were ready for Maggie's arrival.  We had her room ready (she has yet to sleep in it), plenty of diapers (we've already bought more), an abundance of adorable clothes (most of which she can't wear), and the car seat installed.  Little did we know, we weren't prepared at all for the sleep deprivation, crying, and many diaper changes each day.  But, we are getting into more of a routine.  We thought we could make Maggie conform to our schedule, but in these early weeks, it doesn't quite work that way.  Now we know and life is getting better.

Brent and I also celebrated our five year anniversary on Friday.  We ventured out to a real restaurant with Maggie (our first trip)!  And, it was a success!!!  We even braved a second restaurant this weekend and still a success.  Life finally feels as though it is returning to a "new" normal.

A few funny happenings from the past few weeks:
  • When burping Maggie, Brent covers his ENTIRE chest with a blanket and tucks it into the collar of his shirt to prevent any spit up from getting on his clothes.  He had a bad experience during the first week we were home.
  • During Maggie's first bath, a salesman came to the door.  When Brent answered the door, the guy asked him, "Are your parents home?"  Needless to say, Brent didn't buy the product.
  • Brent and I have become "those people."  I found a trick to remove baby poop stains from clothes - you just wet the clothes and put them in direct sunlight (it really does work).  But, this also means our deck often has clothes and blankets hanging on it.  I know, I'm embarrassed, but at least the clothes are stain free and they only stay out there for about an hour.  That's not too terrible...is it?
More pictures... Hope you are all doing well - we send our love.
